Trump Addresses Republican National Convention

By AAF | Jul 22, 2024

Last Thursday night, Donald Trump took the stage as a different man. A humbled man, a shaken man. In many ways, he was only a shadow of the boastful character he usually plays. Fresh off an assassination attempt, Trump appeared to be a man humbled by his supporters and those who serve to protect him.

For a man who has spent his life in front of crowds and cameras, Donald Trump seemed, at times, uneasy with an inconsistent pacing that contrasted starkly against his usual comedian-like delivery and timing. It was an undeniable change from the Donald Trump we are used to seeing.

Throughout a 92-minute speech, Donald Trump spoke about his vision for the future of the country as he accepted the Republican Party’s nomination for the November election, all while sporting a bandage on his ear that was shot mere days earlier.

Perhaps the most significant moment of the night was a moment of silence for Firefighter Corey Comperatore who died protecting his family during the assassination attempt last week. It was truly a somber moment as thousands stood silently in a powerful show of respect.

If anything can be said about the final speech at the RNC, it was that the atmosphere was more powerful than the policy.
