American Action Fund Leads the Charge to Restore Gun Rights in Louisiana

By AAF | Sep 12, 2024

After three years of blood, sweat, and tears being shed in the fight to restore the Second Amendment in Louisiana, lawmakers finally conceded to the will of the People and passed Constitutional Carry.

Now, as the Founders intended, citizens no longer have to ask the Louisiana state government for permission to defend themselves. If you are legally allowed to possess a firearm in Louisiana, you can legally carry it without a permit.

This would not have been possible without the support of patriots across the state who responded to American Action Fund’s mobilization efforts and called on their elected officials to pass this critical liberty legislation.

This victory was a long process that started back in 2021, involving YAL-trained activists knocking on doors and gathering petitions, as well as members of AAF’s elite Liberty Coalition working to advance the bill in the Legislature.

In order to secure this WIN for liberty, YAL/AAF activists knocked on over 57,000 doors and delivered over 30,000 petitions to the Louisiana Legislature! On top of that, they made a quarter million phone calls to citizens, mobilizing them to contact their politicians and demand they support this crucial bill.

Liberty Champion Representative Danny McCormick was steadfast in his support of the Second Amendment, refusing to compromise with the political establishment.

Even as the establishment fought to strip young adults of their right to carry and to put other unreasonable restrictions on the right to bear arms, American Action Fund and its allies in the Legislature held fast in defense of liberty.

This bullheaded commitment to principle and willingness to hold politicians’ feet to the fire paid off as Louisiana now has one of the strongest Constitutional Carry laws in the country.
