Demand for Open Carry in Florida is at an All Time High

By AAF | Mar 11, 2025

American Action Fund activists delivered 60,000 petitions to politicians in Tallahassee on the first day of the Florida Legislative Session this past Tuesday, demanding the Legislature legalize Open Carry in the Sunshine State.

As it sounds, Open Carry is the basic right to be able to carry a firearm not concealed.

This is the default method of carry for law enforcement officers and is the preferred method of carry for many gun owners.

Senators, representatives, and staffers were shocked by the amount of support for this pro-gun legislation, but despite the outcry of support from gun owners, the political class is looking to maintain the anti-gun status quo in 2025 according to Senate President Ben Albritton.

As of today, Florida remains one of only four states that still bans the open carrying of a handgun, including California, Illinois, and New York, and

Albritton made his disdain for the Second Amendment clear in a recent statement declaring Open Carry “dead on arrival,” killing the bill before the legislative session even began.

Others have made similar statements, but why do the views of the political class contrast so much with the views of the everyday Floridian?

American Action Fund will NOT stop advocating for the Second Amendment in Florida and across the country!

Stay tuned for updates on upcoming Days of Action and events.
