Free Speech Victory in New Hampshire

By AAF | Aug 13, 2024

Just signed this past week by Gov. Sununu, the bill to ban free speech zones in the Granite State has surpassed its final obstacle in becoming New Hampshire state law! Before SB 1305, New Hampshire public universities had the ability to mandate ‘free speech zones’ to relegate student groups to fringe areas of campus, thereby restricting freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.

This is no longer the case thanks to the hard work and dedication that liberty legislator Rep. Daniel Popovici-Muller showed throughout the endeavor. “Free speech is the cornerstone of our nation. Tampering with it is foolish,” stated Rep. Daniel Popovici-Muller.

This transformative, commonsense piece of liberty legislation will altogether ban these unconstitutional ‘free speech zones’ and restore the ability of everyone on a New Hampshire college campus to speak freely. Free speech and freedom of assembly are constitutional rights that should be observed and protected, especially at public universities.

This kind of legislation has been a benchmark for Young Americans for Liberty since its inception. This victory for free speech on college campuses underscores the critical work that American Action Fund and the Hazlitt Liberty Coalition do to transform the states into beacons of liberty.
