It’s Time to End Hollywood Handouts and Give Hardworking Louisianans a Break

Louisiana House Bill 341 is exactly what this country needs more of: common sense, pro-taxpayer, pro-freedom legislation. Sponsored by Freedom-Loving Representative Danny McCormick, this bill is a bold move to eliminate the unfair, bloated Hollywood subsidies that have been draining your hard-earned dollars to pad the profits of out-of-state film executives. And guess what? You don’t benefit from it. You’re left holding the bag while elites fly in, collect a check, and leave town.  

New Orleans City Business reported in 2024 that since 2018 Louisiana’s film tax credit program has issued $500 Million in tax credits to the film industry.  Each year $150 Million in tax credits are authorized to be awarded.  And guess who pays the bill for this?  Louisiana taxpayers!  This is why passing House Bill 341 is critical for Louisiana in 2025.

The Free Market Doesn’t Pick Winners and Losers

A true free market doesn’t rely on sweetheart deals or taxpayer giveaways. These film subsidies are corporate welfare, plain and simple. Why should a family in Shreveport or Baton Rouge be forced to subsidize some multi-millionaire’s movie shoot? The government shouldn’t be picking winners and losers, especially when it’s your money on the line. Rep. Danny McCormick’s House Bill 341 puts a stop to this nonsense.
