Jeff Shipley Outshines Colleagues in New Scorecard

By AAF | Nov 13, 2024

When Young Americans for Liberty started the Hazlitt Coalition, a handful of established activists who had been fighting in states across the country for years were looking to make a difference in their state legislature. One of those original members is Representative Jeff Shipley, who had long been an activist turned legislator in Iowa.

With nearly a decade of activism behind him before his successful election in 2018, Shipley is a solid elected official, standing firm on principles and tactics. So it should come as no surprise that Rep. Shipley is recognized for his votes and commitment to the cause from allied organizations like Club for Growth.

Sure enough, if you were to look at the Iowa Club for Growth Economic Freedom Scorecard, just released for the 2024 legislative session, the top-rated House Member in Iowa is none other than Rep. Jeff Shipley. On everything from taxes to spending to civil liberties, Rep. Shipley stood firm on principle and led the fight.

But this commitment to principle has come at a cost. For the first few cycles, Rep. Shipley faced a gauntlet of challengers in the primary and general elections. Thankfully, a coalition of allies, including our sister organization, Make Liberty Win PAC, stood with Shipley to fight back all challengers.

The result of that continued success is a quiet 2024, where Rep. Shipley is now focused on picking up allies this election, instead of fighting to keep his now-secured seat.
