Across the country and federally, our liberty legislators are leading the fight to rein in government spending of our tax dollars and bureaucratic overreach from regulatory agencies. They are working to protect citizens and return the power to the hands of the people instead of unelected bureaucrats who want to strip you of your rights and your money.
These REINS Acts, or Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Acts, would ensure that your elected state legislators would have oversight to hold regulators accountable rather than giving them free rein to spend and make rules and regulations as they see fit. Ohio Representative Brian Lorenz explained, “The REINS Act is a pivotal piece of legislation that helps to solidify the expectation of separate but equal powers our Founding Fathers envisioned for our Republic.” Specifically, it would promote separation of powers when it comes to rulemaking and increase legislative oversight of this process.
Some pivotal REINS Acts have been filed this year by our liberty legislators. These are Arizona’s HB 2276, Ohio’s HB 11, and the US Congress Act for Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act of 2025.
In Arizona, HB 2276 was championed by liberty legislator Shawnna Bolick and in Ohio, HB 11 was championed by pro-liberty Representatives Ron Ferguson and Brian Lorenz.
“The REINS Act is popular with everyone except bureaucrats and swamp creatures,” Representative Ron Ferguson said as he filed the Ohio REINS Act.

Representatives Ron Ferguson and Brian Lorenz introduce HB-11, the REINS Act.
However, Dr. Paul said it best, “The whims of an unaccountable administrative state should never rule our lives. For too long, an ever-growing federal bureaucracy has piled regulations and red tape on the backs of the American people without any approval by Americans’ elected representatives. By making Congress more accountable for the most costly and intrusive federal rules, our REINS Act would give . . . all Americans a greater voice in determining whether these major rules are truly in America’s best interests.”
Instituting REINS Acts across the country would be a significant step toward restoring constitutional rights and limiting government overreach. This would be a welcome step in the right direction to curtail bureaucracy that has harmed consumers and businesses for too long.
Unfortunately, bureaucrats love their power, and they aren’t going to let it go without a fight.
