Big Government Rewards Big Labor Bosses

By AAF | Sep 11, 2024

Instead of allowing the free market to create wealth for Americans and lift untold numbers of citizens out of poverty, the Biden Administration is doubling down on its support of the same socialist, big labor policies that led to the current economic pain felt by most.

In his latest decree, Joe Biden is tying federal grant money to Big Labor standards like a $15 minimum wage which could result in even more price increases.

Speaking in support of Biden’s move, one union boss stated, “The Biden-Harris administration’s landmark legislation already includes some of the strongest federal labor standards we have ever seen, and this order will broaden those standards to cover all federal investment dollars.”

In other words, Congress didn’t pass a law. Joe Biden unilaterally decided to interfere with private companies to advance his socialist agenda before he leaves office in a few months.Big Labor applauded Biden, and it’s no wonder they support the measure. This interference with private company practices will further hinder the private sector’s ability to bid for contracts and funnel federal tax dollars back to unions and their bosses.

A spokesman for the Associated Builders and Contractors pointed out, “These policies steer taxpayer-funded infrastructure contracts to unionized businesses and create jobs exclusively for union members at the expense of everyone else and the rule of law.”

When the government is allowed to pick winners and losers, the American people suffer which is one of the many reasons to dramatically cut government spending. It is time to abandon the socialist policies of FDR, cut the government to a fraction of its size, and allow the free market to thrive.
