Hazlitt Highlight: Rep. Laurel Libby Fights to Take Back Maine

By AAF | Oct 30, 2024

Like many Hazlitt Coalition members, Laurel Libby entered politics as an activist, where she fought against government overreach, including those during the COVID-19 lockdowns.  It should come as no surprise that once elected in 2020, Libby would take the fight to Augusta, which is exactly what she has done, drawing the ire of big-government leftists across Maine.

Throughout her time in the Capitol, Rep. Libby has been a fighter for pro-liberty, small-government policies, but last week, she was recognized by the media for her activism not only in the Capitol but outside of it – where she is leading the fight to take back Maine.

As the article in the Portland Press Herald highlights, Rep. Libby is not only fighting for her seat but fighting across the state to not only flip the Maine House but to give herself a full-roster of pro-liberty allies to shake things up in Augusta.

Libby is sending the Maine establishment the clear message that she didn’t run for office for the prestige or the title but rather to change policy and build a coalition around her for change.  Armed with friends, allies, and numerous political action committees, Rep. Libby is committed to the cause more than ever, and we look forward to seeing the fruits of her labor when the election results roll in.  With a little luck and her continued work, this election should see Maine and other states change their heading for a more pro-liberty tomorrow.
